I’ve wanted to see this one for a long while, and upon learning that Katherine Isabelle was the lead, it was moved to the active, urgent queue.
I won’t wax poetic too much but will say this: this movie delivers exactly on what you look for in a slasher flick. It rests someplace much higher than Wrong Turn and a peg lower than The Strangers.
It is a good time—good enough that I plan on watching the sequel tomorrow.
Since discovering the Universal monsters, particularly The Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Phantom of the Opera, I have been hooked on horror films. Now, I try to watch all of them I can find. There are so many out there, and some of them really embrace the art of the medium. Further, there are a lot of films that have great elements or have historical significance that get brushed under the rug for various reasons. What is worse is when a great film has an unpopular name attached to it.
I try to give every movie a fair chance--maybe even an unfair chance, such as when I hate a director's previous works but continue watching their every effort. A thing somewhat related is when I give a movie that I disliked a second chance and find a lot that I had missed.
My mind can be changed, so I encourage discussion.
