It is like a Troma film but with pretty good special effects. It is extremely predictable, but I will say this… I will be shocked if this movie doesn’t inspire sequels. The director went with a heavy filter, to make it look like a horror film from the 70s, much in a similar vein to Rob Zombie. It is not as calculated as Zombie’s, the end might leave you saying ‘Oh, come on!’ but it is a good ride!
***Update*** May 27, 2019
This has become one of my favorite horror flicks of all time! Since October of last year, seven months ago, I have watched Terrifier 8 times, as well as its prequel, All Hallow’s Eve, and am anxiously awaiting Terrifier 2.
Since discovering the Universal monsters, particularly The Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Phantom of the Opera, I have been hooked on horror films. Now, I try to watch all of them I can find. There are so many out there, and some of them really embrace the art of the medium. Further, there are a lot of films that have great elements or have historical significance that get brushed under the rug for various reasons. What is worse is when a great film has an unpopular name attached to it.
I try to give every movie a fair chance--maybe even an unfair chance, such as when I hate a director's previous works but continue watching their every effort. A thing somewhat related is when I give a movie that I disliked a second chance and find a lot that I had missed.
My mind can be changed, so I encourage discussion.
